Mark was a 1983 graduate of Springville High School in Alabama and soon after called Mount Vernon, Illinois and then South Florida his home. He resided in the Margate/Coconut Creek, Florida area for 38 years where he became a licensed professional land surveyor and mapper, successfully running his own business for many years as well as working for others. His unique laugh, big smile, and booming voice were infectious, always bringing his quick wit and humor into any situation. Earning his nickname early on from Rosco P. Coltrane of the Dukes of Hazard, due to his rambling, comedic personality and inevitably becoming the unplanned center of attention in any room. He loved with his whole heart, and he lived with his whole heart. He was always the first with his bear hugs, words of encouragement, and to let you know how happy he was to have you in his world. Even more happy you let him into your world.
He was a life-long fan of FSU football, the Dallas Cowboys, and had an immeasurable and indescribable love for rock and roll. He would want to be remembered like a classic hard rock song that played the loudest and hardest during the fast times, soft and mellow during the low times, but always keeping a steady beat even when the music started to fade away. A tune that stays in your head long after it’s off the charts and one you turn to when remembering the best of times on a rainy day. A melody for the ages.
Sing with me, sing for the year.
Sing for the laughter, and sing for the tear.
Sing with me, if it’s just for today.
Maybe tomorrow the good Lord will take you away….
Dream on, Mark Alan.
A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, October 14th, from 9am – 11am at Kraeer Funeral Home at 1 St Road 7, Margate, FL 33063
