She was born April 6, 1916 in Flora Township to Ray and Mabel (Kingsbury) Morehead. Lucile graduated from Belvidere High School and went on to school in Rockford to become a beautician. She would work as a beautician for 20 years. She was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Marengo. She was an avid Cubs fan, loved to play golf, and a good game of cards.
Lucile is survived by her son, Frank (Carolyn) Oakley; her granddaughters, Kathy (John) Kadlec and Anna (Peter) van Ophem; her great-grandchildren, Richard, Max, and Emerson Kersten, and Sydney and Madison van Ophem; her step-great-grandchildren, Kyle and Chloe Kadlec; her sister-in-law, Jane Morehead; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Virgil Oakley; her son, Gary Oakley; her daughter-in-law, Josephine Oakley; and her three brothers, Henry, Gail, and Kenneth Morehead.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11am on Friday, December 23 at Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 E. Grant Hwy., Marengo. The service will be at 11am.
Interment in Flora Cemetery will be private.
