Leroy Russell Fishleigh

Leroy R. Fishleigh, age 87, passed away February 10,2022 in Marco Island, FL. Leroy was born in Chicago and attended Austin School where he played varsity football, baseball and track and field. After graduation he joined the National Guard, played for the Chicago White Sox Baseball organization and proudly served in the Army. He completed college on the GI bill and became a successful pharmaceutical Rep. He married the love of his life, Mary Ann and shared 64 wonderful years together.

A devoted father and grandfather. He enjoyed coaching his son's hockey teams and teaching his grandchildren the joy of boating and fishing. After his second retirement from HUD he settled in Marco where Leroy continued his passion for softball by being one of the founders of the Marco Men's Senior Softball League. He was an active member of the Italian American Club, he took pride in driving his sport cars in the Island's Christmas parade. He had a true zest for life and kept his youthful enthusiasm until the end. He had a passion for golf and softball, playing both until his last days.

He is preceded in death by his son, Leroy Jr, his parents Walter and Laura (nee Kollie), his siblings: Albert, Gilbert (Gerl), Arline (Fred) Falk and Walter Jr.

Leroy is survived by his loving wife Mary Ann (nee Casella), his daughters Linda (Steve) Friend and Laura (Dave) Deknock and his adoring grandchildren: Mathew Deknock, Ryan Collins, Nicole Collins (Andrew); and his many admiring nephews and nieces.

A funeral mass will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, February 24th at San Marco Catholic Church 851 San Marco Rd, Marco Island, FL with a Celebration of Life immediately following at LaTovala Restaurant 961 Winterberry Dr, Marco Island, FL.
