Mary was the daughter of Dominic Procopio, an immigrant from Italy, and Mary (Corelli) Procopio. She was born in Rumford, ME and raised in Pittsfield, MA. After her marriage to Albert T. Smith of Marblehead, she lived in Marblehead and Salem, MA. After Albert’s passing, she moved to The Village at Willow Crossings in Mansfield to be closer to her daughter, and subsequently to Life Care Center of West Bridgewater, her home for the last 7 ½ years.
Mary worked in the accounting department at local Marblehead grocer F. N. Osborne, Inc. for many years, and she and her husband were very active members of the St. Stephen’s Methodist Church family. Mary was an excellent cook, baker, and knitter, and her family and friends benefited greatly from these skills!!
Mary lived for and loved family above all. Mary is survived by her sister Virginia Clark, and by her loving and beloved grandchildren: Anna Pollard and her husband Sean, and William White and his wife Kerry. Mary also leaves her cherished great-grandchildren Olivia Akim, Ava White, Thomas Pollard and Emily Pollard. Mary is survived by many nieces and nephews and their families.
Mary is pre-deceased by the love of her life and husband of almost 63 years, Albert T. Smith, and her beloved daughter Alice L. Parsons, as well as her siblings Salvatore Procopio, Alfred Procopio, Joseph Procopio, Yolanda Potter, Angelina Brazowskas, Frank Procopio, Anthony Procopio, and Jane Fowler.
Services and burial will be private at Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead, MA, arranged by the Eustis & Cornell of Marblehead, MA.
