OSGOOD, Joan Pryor of Marblehead died peacefully Thursday, March 23rd, 2017. She was born April 5th, 1925 in Manchester, NH to Vernon Monroe and Agnes Elizabeth Pryor. The family settled in Marblehead in 1935. Joan graduated from Marblehead High School in the class of 1943 and attended Westbrook Junior College. She will be fondly remembered for her love of family, particularly her four grandchildren. She will also be remembered for her sense of humor, her caring, unpretentious nature, and her loyalty to family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Robert Ward Osgood, a son Robert Ward Osgood, his wife Emily Munro Osgood, their sons Robert and Alexander, a son Scott Pryor Osgood, his wife Francie Ryan Osgood, and their sons Matthew and Luke. She is also survived by her sister, Nancy Sands Baker of South Freeport, ME.
A service will be held at 11:00 Monday, April 3rd at The Church of Saint Andrew in Marblehead. The family extends their appreciation for the love and care provided to Joan by the staff at The Bertram House in Swampscott. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Block Island Historical Society in memory of Joan and in recognition of her Block Island heritage.
