Helen M. Donahue “Honey” passed away February 21st at her home in Marblehead surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 6, 1928 in Malden Ma, daughter of the late George H. Donahue Sr. and Helen E (Lucey) Donahue. She Graduated from Arlington, Ma High School in 1946.
Helen held many positions with New England Telephone and made many lifelong friends there, retiring in 1987.
She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and the Marblehead Museum. She enjoyed traveling and made many memorable trips to Europe, the South Pacific and Alaska.
She loved animals, had many dogs and cats in her lifetime. And was a lifelong supporter of many charitable animal rescue leagues.
She was predeceased by her brother George H. Donahue Jr., and her sister Virginia A. Donahue. She leaves her loves, nephews Steven Donahue of Marblehead, Ma., David Donahue and wife Susan of Marblehead, Ma., Michael Donahue and wife Wendy of Salem, Ma., Timothy Donahue of Conn; and grandnephews Patrick and Christopher Donahue of Marblehead.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 85 Atlantic Avenue, Marblehead on Saturday, February 25 at 11AM. Cremation followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem will be at a later time. Visiting hours will be held in the Eustis and Cornell Funeral Home, 142 Elm Street, Marblehead on Friday, February 24 from 5-7PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helen’s name to The Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, Tennessee 38101.
