Born December 9, 1950 at the old Mary Alley Hospital in Marblehead, Brian was the son of M. Elizabeth (Marrow) Delaney and the late William B. Delaney. Raised in Swampscott, Brian was a graduate of Swampscott High School and attended Clarkson University.
Brian spent much of his childhood with his family as part of the Posy Patch ski club in North Conway, NH. His love of skiing and the north country brought him back to North Conway for several years, and it is there he earned the nickname "Danger" Delaney.
After his marriage, Brian and his wife Robin raised their family in Marblehead, and Brian became co-owner of the family business, Paradise Cleaners, in Swampscott until his retirement.
Brian was a talented carpenter and mechanic. He was very generous with his time and was always willing to help his friends and family. Brian was an avid skier who also had a great love for the ocean and anything associated with it such as boating, fishing. He especially loved spending the day with his granddaughter Olivia at Nahant Beach.
In addition to his mother, Brian is survived by his children, Mitchell Delaney of Kittery, Maine, and Brendan Delaney and his wife Melissa Dixey of Middleton; stepson Orest G. Manzi and family of Marblehead; best friend and former wife Robin Delaney of Topsfield; sister Elizabeth "Lisa" Delaney of Swampscott; and nephews Forrest Plassmann and family of Arlington and Shawn Plassmann and family of Bradford.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Church, 174 Humphrey Street, Swampscott on Saturday, January 26 at 10AM followed by burial in Swampscott Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held at Eustis and Cornell of Marblehead, 142 Elm Street on Friday, January 25 from 4-8PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Brian’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
