Betsy Cooke McBride, 52, of Greensboro, NC, formally of Rye, NH and Marblehead, MA, passed away at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, MA on Monday, January 3rd, 2011. Betsy was the beloved daughter of Mrs. Donald Fulton Cooke and the late Donald Fulton Cooke of Marblehead.
She was the loving wife of Steven Stuart McBride with whom she shared 24 years of marriage and the mother to 3 beautiful children, Rebecca Winn McBride, Matthew Stuart McBride, and Samuel Fulton McBride, all of Greensboro, NC. Betsy was the adored sister of Cynthia Cooke of Marblehead, MA and the daughter in law of Mary E McBride (McKeehan) of Greensboro, NC. She was the loving Aunt to Andrew Fulton Spahr of Charlestown, MA and to James Miller Spahr of Portland, OR.
Betsy was a 1976 graduate of Marblehead High School and a 1980 graduate of the University of Maine, Oreno. She had a successful career in advertising prior to having her children.
Betsy was a “soccer mom” throughout her years in Rye as well as in Greensboro. She was the “extraordinary cheerleader” at every athletic event for her children from their first day on the soccer field. Betsy was a loving and giving person to all who knew her. She volunteered at Rye Elementary school in Rye, NH and Page High School in Greensboro, NC.
Betsy was an animal lover, having rescued numerous dogs and cats throughout her life. She leaves behind two cats and four dogs.
