Michael (Mike) DeWayne Smith, 63, beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, and friend passed away peacefully on June 1, 2020, at his home in Spicewood, Texas. He was born February 4, 1957, in Mobile, Alabama to the late Frank and Paula Smith.
Mike graduated from Mary Carroll High School in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was married to Laura Luckey Smith for 41 years and was blessed with a beautiful family. Mike and Laura met and married in Houston, Texas. They honeymooned on Lake Travis and a few years later decided to make Spicewood, Texas their permanent home.
Mike was an entrepreneur and started River City Vending and Texan ATM, both successful businesses that provided greatly for his family. Mike was an avid music lover. His favorite pastime was playing his Alvarez guitar and singing old country songs with friends and family. He also enjoyed a competitive match of ping pong with long-time friends. Mike loved their two sons, Travis and Adam. He enjoyed weekends boating on Lake Travis and spending quality time with his family.
Mike was deeply loved for his selfless, caring personality. He had a way of making you feel loved and cared for in every conversation. Friends and family would say he was the most gentle, genuine and honest man they knew.
Mike will be greatly missed but is leaving a legacy of love to his family and friends. Those left to cherish Mike’s memory are his wife, Laura; sons Travis and daughter-in-law Angie of Spicewood, Texas, and Adam and daughter-in-law Amy of Houston, Texas. He is also survived by sister Debbie and brother-in-law Ernie Encalade, as well as granddaughter Alexia Ann Smith. Mike also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, and many, many friends.
A visitation will be held from 10 AM until 11 AM, Friday, June 5, 2020 at the Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Marble Falls, Texas. A funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation at 11 AM, officiated by nephew Wesley Encalade. A private cemetery service will be held at Fall Creek Cemetery.
