Kate was dedicated to her family, friends and loved all animals. She was elegant, gracious, had beautiful taste and style and was loved and admired by all who knew her. She loved being a homemaker and greatly enjoyed her years as secretary to the principal of Pearland Elementary School.
Kate was born February 9, 1921, in Dallas, Texas to Marguerite and Henry Witt. On March 12, 1942, she married the love of her life William Travis Smith and shared their love for 73 years until he passed into God’s hands in 2013. Kate is preceded in death also by her sister, Lois Jean Pilling.
Kate is survived by her daughters, Susan Castleberry and son in law Charley, of Marble Falls, Texas, and Sharon Harston and son in law Larry, of Fredericksburg, Texas. Kate has one granddaughter, Kristin Harvey and husband Steve, of Austin, Texas and two great granddaughters, Kendall and Karis Harvey.
There will be a private family celebration of Kate’s life at a later date. She will be missed beyond measure.
