Jerry grew up in Evansville and attended Reitz High School where he played football and was on the wrestling team. He was a Veteran in the United States Air Force and served at Bergstrom Air Force Base in Austin Texas. This is where he met and married Edna Louise Girvin. They had two children together and were married for 16 years. He later married Carol Lynn Ellerthorpe and they were married for 34 years.
Jerry worked for the Austin Fire Department for 10 years and always had an entrepreneurial spirit. He owned several businesses including a hobby shop, a car lot, a tire shop and a wrecker service. He enjoyed taking care of his house, cutting his own firewood, going to a casino and trying his luck online. He was a member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Austin, Texas.
Jerry is survived by his son Ken Malin and wife Belinda, three grandchildren Ross Malin, Harley Haubrich (Connor) and Denver Malin (Luis), siblings, Robert Malin, Dejong Malin, Gary Malin (Donna), Yolanda Vinson (Eddie), Ralph Malin (Brenda), Shelby Butler (Janet), and Samuell Welman (Lori); and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elzie and Juanita Malin; his wife, Carol Malin; his daughter, Gina Malin; his grand-daughter, Katrina Malin Holmes; his sister, Carolyn Malin; and his brother Elzie Wayne Malin.
A Celebration of Life will take place on March 9, 2024, from 1 -3 pm at 201 Quail Hill Dr., Burnet, Texas 78611.
