Janice Laurel Warren

Janice “Jan” Laurel (Mendenhall) Warren was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She passed away peacefully at her family ranch in Spicewood, Texas, from complications of cancer on June 13th, 2022.

She was born to Elnora Marie (Turner) and Oniel Charles Mendenhall on January 22nd, 1946, in Alva, OK. After graduating from high school, Jan married and moved to Kansas and then Missouri. Jan had two children, Brett Allan and Shelley Dionne. After retirement, Jan moved to Spicewood and built a family ranch she loved very much.

Jan loved spending time in her gardens, tending to her flowers, birds, and butterflies, and traveling with family and friends, and she was always ready for the next great adventure. Jan was a long-time member of the Texas Master Naturalist Club. Promoting and educating others on proper land use and preservation was a true passion for her. She loved nearly everything outdoors; hiking, biking, kayaking, boating, and concerts were just a few of the activities she enjoyed almost until she left us. Some of the fondest memories were the family trips we took skiing in the Rocky Mountains (Y’all haven’t seen anything till you’ve seen a 74-year-old lady fly past you on a mountainside and beat you to get back in line for the lift).

Jan is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Mark. Jan is survived by her son Brett Warren and his wife Heather and their children, Taylor, Amber, Larry, Cole, Lizzy, and Riley. Her daughter Shelley Tennyson and her husband Robert, and their son Conner. Her stepmother Trini Mendenhall. Her brother Oniel Mendenhall, his wife Jan, and their children Ava and Jake. Her nephew Micheal Mendenhall, his wife Jacque, and their son Mark and countless friends.

A funeral service is scheduled for 11 am on July 16th, 2022, at the Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Marble Falls. In place of flowers, you can donate in Jan’s memory to The Phoenix Center if you choose.
