A long-time resident of the Highland Lakes area and Granite Shoals, Gary Fruge’ passed away on September 2, 2022, after struggling with cancer for many months. Gary is survived by his wife, Lauralee; son Ryan Fruge’; two brothers, Richard and David Fruge’; granddaughters Ashley, Annmarie and Abigail; two great grandchildren, Nathan and Alaynah; a niece, Misty; Aunt Lucy and her family, along with numerous cousins. Gary is also survived by his first wife, Cindy.
Gary was born on January 6, 1952, grew up and lived in Gatesville, Texas along with numerous countries, and later served in the military at Vandenburg AFB, California. He received three Associate Degrees in Graphic Design, Business and Art from Hancock College, California. His profession as a printer included several years with Highland Publishing and PrintWorks locally.
His hobbies included writing, singing and playing guitar with friends and neighbors. He enjoyed canoeing, swimming and telling jokes. He was a caring and compassionate man with a zest for life, especially when singing with his wife, Lauralee. He even composed a beautiful song for her several years ago which can be seen and heard on YouTube. His beloved pets included two dogs, Jolie and Taro and his latest cat, Sprite.
Viewing will be held Sunday, September 18, 2022 from 5 – 7 pm at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 1805 Hwy 281 N., Marble Falls, Texas. The funeral will be the next day at 12 noon at the same location followed by interment at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park, 4219 Park Road 4 S, Burnet, Texas.
