William Harrell Rachel Sr., 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by his children at Good Shepherd Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Campus on Friday, May 31, 2024.
William was born August 30, 1941 in Mendota, Virginia to Laborn and Emily (Johnson) Rachel. He retired from the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections with his last position being a Unit Manager at Richland Correctional Institution. William loved the outdoors; camping and fishing. His true passion was spending time with his grandchildren.
William is survived by his children, William (Linda) Rachel Jr., Deborah (Mark) Likes, Tina (Felix) Salgado, Michael W. (Cheryl) Rachel, and Diana (Master Sargeant David Jr.) Burger; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and more on the way; several nieces and nephews; his partner, Sally Smith and her children and grandchildren; and his first wife, Carolyn D. (Holmes) Mills.
William was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carolyn Ruth (Patton) Rachel; and his 5 brothers.
There will be no public services observed. Advantage Funeral and Cremation Services by Wappner is honored to serve the Rachel family.
