Wanda L. King, 88, of Mansfield, passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at her home with family by her side. Wanda was born on July 25, 1930 in Harmon Creek, West Virginia, the daughter of Winford and Gustava (Hedrick) Withrow.
Wanda was born in West Virginia, work brought her and her husband, Harold, to Ohio in 1953. She cleaned homes and worked in the school cafeteria. Wanda was a dedicated mother and grandmother, and she loved spending time with her family. Her family was her focus and she devoted much of her time to caring for them. She was a fabulous baker and always willing to share her famous cinnamon rolls and homemade bread that she made from scratch. Gardening was a hobby for Wanda, especially growing vegetables and strawberries. One of her favorite things to do was travel to Myrtle Beach with her sisters and nephew.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her son, Harold B. (Joyce) King Jr.; daughter, Mary Tucker; grandchildren, Alicia (James) Sanger, Amanda Tucker, Justin Tucker, and Joshua, Daniel and Bethany King; great-grandchildren, Christopher Sanger, Dylan Tucker, and Dalton Sutton; sisters, Linda (Joe) Milbee and Shelby (Ron) Wines; brother, Herb (Beth) Withrow; sister-in-law, Lina Withrow; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold B. King Sr.; brothers, Woodrow, Carvin and Frank Withrow; and her sisters, Sylvia Thornton, Helen Burson and Mary Bourff.
Family and friends may visit from 8:30-9:30 am on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street. The funeral service will follow at 9:30 am. Pastor Wayne Keith and Pastor Mark Bailey will officiate the service. She will be laid to rest at Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to OhioHealth Hospice.
