Samuel "Sam" Gilbert

Sam grew up in Ohio and lived the majority of his life in Mansfield. Sam was a graduate of Mansfield Senior High School. Sam retired from Richland County Solid Waste. He had a way of keeping everyone around him laughing. He enjoyed mowing yards and working on small engines in his spare time.

Sam is survived by his daughters, Patricia (Terry) Fox, Samantha (Jim) Lee, and Jennifer Bowman; and ten grandchildren, Krista, Alec, Kaylee, James, Amber, Lucy, William, Kaitlin, Breidon, Alessandra; brothers, Stan (Becky) Gilbert and Raymond Roy. Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Berniece Roy; and a brother, David Roy.

A gathering of family and friends will take place from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St. Mansfield, OH. A memorial service will held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 24, 2017 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 55 W.
