Born February 12, 1927 in Old Zionville, PA she was the daughter of John and Mary F. (Rush) Geissinger. She was a 1944 graduate of Emmaus High School and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics in 1950 from Blufton College. A homemaker, she was a member of The First English Lutheran Church. In the past, she was active in the Republican Women’s Club, the Richland County Steam Threshers Women’s Auxiliary and a friend of the Richland Rural Life Center. She enjoyed her duty as a Poll worker where she was a precinct chairwoman. She also enjoyed gardening, canning and sewing for her family and she supported her husband, Dick, while he played in small concert bands in Ohio.
Surviving are a son, David (Gail) Wolford of Mansfield; a daughter, Mary E. Wolford of Mansfield; three grandchildren, Jeremy (Jenna) Wolford of Mansfield, Jolene Wolford of Mansfield and Jessica (Benjamin) Steele of Cincinnati; two great grandchildren, Audrey Wolford and Cody Wolford; a brother, J. Philip (Mae) Giessinger of Zionsville, PA; a sister, Irma J. (Dennis) Gustafson of Kiron, IA; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, William and Lutie Wolford of Ashland; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of nearly 50 years, Richard “Dick” Wolford whom she married May 12, 1951; a daughter, Kathryn A. Wolford; and a sister, Luella Geissinger.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 29, 2011 at the funeral home conducted by Rev. Paul L. Larson. Burial will follow in Windsor Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to The First English Lutheran Church or the Richland Rural Life Center.
