Ron was born July 1939 in Mansfield, Ohio to his mother, Esther M. Scheurer. He graduated from Madison Local Schools in the class of 1957. He went on to attend Wittenberg University and graduated from Ohio University in 1961 with a BS in Commerce Degree and attended the University of Dayton for post graduate studies in business. He worked his way through college at various part time jobs including road construction, during the building of I-71. He completed a 35 year career of various management, accounting and supervisory positions culminating with retirement from CenturyLink in 1996. After retirement, he continued to prepare tax returns seasonally for an additional 14 years.
He married the love of his life in September of 1970, M. Joan Scheiderer in Mechanicsburg, Ohio and the two built a wonderful life together. Living on Mansfield Historic Boulevards and Sites Lake making many memories.
Ron enjoyed local historic preservation and was a founding member of the Mansfield Reformatory Preservation Society. Ron enjoyed antiquing and sports; following the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Guardians, Cleveland Cavaliers; and Ohio college football teams.
Ron is survived by his wife of 53 years, M. Joan Scheurer; his children, Ronni (Charlie) Cunningham of Ambler, PA, Maria (Joel) Bryan of Berlin, NJ, Matthew (Leah) Scheurer of Lebanon, Ohio; his grandchildren, Megan Bryan and Jesse Scheurer; his sister, Jacqueline A. Fletcher of Republic, Ohio; his nephews, Rock Fletcher and John Fletcher both of Tiffin, Ohio and Dan Fletcher of Amherst, Ohio; his good neighbors, John and Olya Jaholnycky; and his walking companion, his fat and happy dog, Louie.
He was preceded in death in by his mother; his grandparents who were caregivers, Lillian and William Stone; and his grandchildren, Anna Marie Bryan and Adam Douglas Scheurer.
The family will accept guests on Monday, July 1, 2024 from 4:00-6:00 pm at Wappner Funeral Directors-Mansfield, 98 S. Diamond Street. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Mansfield Reformatory Preservation Society, in care of Richland County Foundation, 181 South Main St., Mansfield, Ohio 44902 or to your favorite charity. Ron requests that you take his advice, and find humor in everything as life is too short.
