On June 1, 2011, the beloved Robert E. Schnitzer, age 51, passed away at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital from complications of pneumonia. His spirit was returned to God who gave it to him. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on August 2, 1959. He was a lifelong resident of Mansfield and graduated from Madison High School. Robert had a loving and gentle heart and touched many lives with his smile and generosity. He enjoyed fishing, feeding the ducks at the park, circle word puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, yard sales, collecting knick knacks and artificial flowers. Robert's passion for animals was demonstrated throughout his life, caring for several dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, fish and mice.
He is survived by two brothers, Donald E. Linda Schnitzer of Mansfield and Walter L. Debbie Schnitzer of Youngstown; five sisters, Kimberli Brash of Grove City, Twana Paul Anderson of Marion, Marvel Jeff Gibson of Marion, Carmen Walker of La Rue, Lynn Matt Perigo of Easley, SC; and many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Mary Goon Schnitzer and birth mother, Marilyn Abrams.
A graveside service for family and friends will be held Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Oak Grove Memorial Park, Lexington. Deacon David Goon will conduct the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Wappner Funeral Directors.
