Robert Eckert

Robert D. Eckert, 59, of Lexington, died early Thursday, June 9, 2011 at the residence of Mike and Lisa Walker, with whom he made his home. Born June 11, 1951 in Mansfield, he was the son of Henry Dale and Susan E. McElvain Eckert. Bob enjoyed motorcycles, reading, and politics. He also enjoyed bowling, playing softball, and doing yard work around his home. Family was everything to Bob and he loved playing and spoiling Jacob, Carolina, Brien, and his grandkids.

He is survived by his sons, Chris Eckert and Ben Jean Eckert; grandchildren, Mike, Sabrina, and Benji; sisters, KarenLindy Harris, Nancy Lobring, Sandie Wertz, and Linda Nikolaus; nieces and nephews, Mike Lisa and Don Walker, Matt Nikolaus, and Val Ashcraft; special friend, Mari; aunt and uncle, Dorothy and Harold Eckert; and numerous cousins. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Oliver Bolden.

Friends may call Monday, June 13, 2011 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Diamond St. Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home conducted by Ben Pletcher. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
