Rhonda Lee Burton, 66, of Mansfield, Ohio, passed away Saturday morning, September 19, 2015, at OhioHealth MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. She was born February 22, 1949, in Lake City, Florida, to Junior F. and Virdie (Lee) Sullivan.
She was a 1967 graduate of Mansfield Senior High School. Rhonda retired from Sprint after 42 years of service, most recently in land and building operations department.. She was a life member of V.F.W. Auxiliary Post #3494
Rhonda was a kind, gentle and giving soul who cared deeply for her family and friends. She was the glue that kept the family together and spending holidays -her favorite was Thanksgiving- creating wonderful memories was a special time. Rhonda was the ultimate example of unconditional love. She made certain everyone in her life knew how much they were loved and treasured by her.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Milt Burton; two sons, Joseph (Melissa) Burton and Jason Burton; six grandchildren, Amber Burton, Cody Hughes, Baylee Burton, Joseph Burton Jr., Emily Burton and Jackson Burton; one great-grandson, Auden; two sister, Rebecca Springfield and Rose Mary Sullivan; two brothers, Shell Sullivan and Joseph "J.V." (Carletta) Sullivan; a brother-in-law, Rev. Dr. Dennis Burton; two special friends, Judy Goldsmith and Danny Williams; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 23, 2015, in the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. The funeral service conducted by Rev. Dr. Dennis Burton will be held Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
