Renate Taylor, 79, of Lucas, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 15, 2009, in MedCentral Mansfield following a short illness. Born August 9, 1929, in Mannheim, Germany, the daughter of Lawrence and Maria Kühlwein. A homemaker, Renate was loved by her family and many friends, had a huge heart and an endless zest for learning. She had a degree in business, was fluent in five languages and traveled the world extensively being the wife of a military man. She settled with her husband, John, in Lucas, Ohio and built her life around her family and friends – who love her and will miss her dearly. Renate was a member of Grace Bible Church, the VFW and AARP. The last 14 years, she has spent her winters in Florida with her extended family and friends playing bingo and cards. She lived a joyful and loving life and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandkids.
Surviving are a brother and sister-in-law, Gunter and Shelley Kühlwein of Switzerland; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Stephen Thomas of Mansfield; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Jane Taylor of Iberia; five grandchildren and their spouses, Gary and Stasha Thomas of Mansfield, John and Tiffany Thomas of Mansfield, Terry and Lori Phelps of Hickory, NC, Sherri Green and Rich Juhlke of Shelby, OH and Brian and Amy Taylor of Marion; 12 great grandchildren, Hannah, Nichalos, Madison, Kirsten, Kiara, Destiny, Alyssa, Brionna, Micheal, Victoria, Samatha, Tyler and Kobe; cousins, Gisela and Carlos Ferguson of Seale, AL; and friends, Nancy, Starla, Delores, Ruth, Maxine, Edna and many other friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Taylor.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, February 19, 2009, at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield, OH 44902. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 20, 2009, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Schlerosis Society, American Heart Association or the Veteran's Administration for Agent Orange Disabilities.
