He attended St. Peter's Catholic School. Paul enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving during WWII in the Philippines as an Aviation Machinist Mate. Following his discharge, he married Jean Ann Crager on July 4, 1947. At the beginning of his work career, Paul had a variety of jobs, and then began working at Empire Detroit Steel. He retired as the head of the Combustion Department after over 30 years of service. After his retirement, he kept active by working with his two sons at Energy Technologies.
Paul was a member of the Moose, Masonic Lodge, and was a 32nd Degree Mason of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, and Al Koran Shrine. In his free time, he enjoyed boating, fishing, and reading. Paul was also an avid traveler and enjoyed visiting many different scenic spots throughout North America.
He is survived by two sons, Paul Daniel (Shirley) Madden and John Scott (Lisa) Madden; seven grandchildren, Paul Andrew (fiancee', Kara), Jennifer Renee, Robert Scott, Christopher Paul (Kimberly), Andrea Kristen, Jesseca Ranae and Jillian Nicole; and three great-grandchildren. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Anna Madden; wife, Jean Ann Madden; and brother, Richard Madden.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday, July 24, 2016, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. A Mass of Christian Burial will be recited at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 104 W. First St., Mansfield, on Monday at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park with military honors presented by the U.S. Navy.
