Mildred Elaine (McFarland) Peterson

She was born in Mansfield on January 14, 1924 to the late Harvey and May (Keefer) McFarland. She spent most of her life in Mansfield and graduated from Madison High School in 1941. Mrs. Peterson received a degree in Bible from Nyack College and her bachelor's degree in education from Houghton College in New York. Her teaching career spanned 28 years, including 22 in the Madison Local School District.

On June 1, 1951 she married Roger M. Peterson and he passed away in March, 1999. Mrs. Peterson was a long time member of the First Alliance Church of Mansfield. Her hobbies included baking and needlework.

Surviving Mrs. Peterson are her son, Randall (Deborah) Peterson of Lexington; daughter, Cynthia (Timothy) Hillier of Fremont; and sister-in-law, Faye McFarland of Cameron Park, California. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Reid (Angie) Peterson of Bellville, Lera Peterson of Mt. Vernon, Jason (Kerry) Hillier of Highland Village, TX, Jennifer Hillier of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Abigail (Stuart) Krynock of Plymouth, Indiana and eleven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, Donald P. McFarland.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, October 11, 2015 from 2-4 p.m. at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington Springmill Road, Ontario. An additional hour of visitation will be held Monday, October 12, 2015 from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services, conducted by Pastor Larry Hulver, will begin at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
