Larry E. Rush, 87, passed away Friday, December 13, 2024, at Country Meadow Rehab and Nursing. He was born January 8, 1937, in Ashland. Larry was one of two children born to the late Paul H. and Jessie E. (Simanton) Rush. He graduated from Ashland High School in 1955 and went on to serve in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant. Larry worked at Shafer Valve for 55 years, both as an engineer and in sales. He enjoyed golf, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren. Larry loved volunteering with his wife, Mary, at the Mansfield Playhouse, Kingwood, and Renaissance Theater.
Larry is survived by his wife of 23 years, Mary Rush; children Diane (Matt) Tolliver and Amy (Joe) Petrycki, Scott (Dee) Esselburn, Tod Esselburn, Leanne (Trey) Tobin; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and sister, Judy Snyder. He was preceded in death by both parents, Paul H. Rush and Jessie E. Rush; and daughter, Kandy Buhl.
A Gathering of family and friends will be held Monday, January 6, 2025, from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at 98 South Diamond Street, Mansfield. Memorial contributions may be made to Richland County Humane Society. Wappner Funeral Directors-Mansfield is honored to serve the Rush family.
