Joyce Elaine (Harris) Brown, 84, of Mansfield, died Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Lexington Court Care Center. Born November 25, 1931 in Carlisle, Indiana, she was the daughter of Shirley and Mima Jane (Pennington) Harris.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she was very active, having held numerous positions within the church in her younger years. She loved to sew, sing and read and was a good working companion with her husband, Omar managing mobile home parks in Illinois and Florida.
She is survived by her husband, Omar Lee Brown; two daughters, Cheryl (John) Ayers of South Carolina and Karen Wicks of Toledo, Ohio; a son, Jeffrey (Beverly) Brown of Mansfield, Ohio; four grandchildren, Bradley (Jessica) Ayers of Warwick, Rhode Island, Brian (Nicole) Ayers of Ligonier, Pennsylvania, Angelique O'Brien of Toledo, Ohio and Morgan (Dustin) Maria of Toledo, Ohio; ten great grandchildren; two sisters, Charlotte Thompson and Bonnie Knepper both of Mansfield, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Michael Brown and Jack Brown; a sister, Lela Wheatcraft; a brother, Elmo Harris; a son-in-law, Mike Wicks; and her step father, Kenneth Parson.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road, Ontario. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints conducted by Bishop David Talaga. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Shelby, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to Harbor Light Hospice.
