Born December 12th, 1932, in Mansfield, he was the son of Frederick “Fred” and Edith (Peterson) Crunkilton. He attended Lexington schools and graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1951. Jim enlisted in the United States Navy Reserves and was active duty from 1951 – 1953. Jim served in the Korean War aboard the USS Myles C. Fox destroyer.
Jim and Joann Elizabeth (Stranski) were united in marriage on September 18th, 1954. He was employed by Philway of Ashland, Mansfield Tire & Rubber Co., Western & Southern Life, and retired after 19 years from Prudential Insurance Company. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies of the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction of the United States of America for 35 years and a member of the Ashland Masonic Lodge 151 for 45 years.
Jim enjoyed fishing, golfing, baking, cooking, and spending his free time with his family and friends.
Surviving is his wife Joann E. (Stranski); sister Janice “Jan” Ellis; sons Jeffery “Jeff”, James “Jim” (Aleta), and Jason “Jay” (Raelee); grandchildren Joseph (Joanne), Jorge, Kelly, Conner, Chloe, and Claire; great-grandchildren Julia, Jacob, Jared, Jenna, and Jocelyn; nieces and nephews Jannie (Dave) Sorrenti and Andy (Stacy) Ellis.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 7, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Life Celebration Reception Center 129 South Main Street, Mansfield, Ohio. Funeral Services will begin at 3:00 PM and a Celebration of Life Reception will follow.
