Glenn Edward Workman, 74, of Mansfield, died Sunday morning, July 22, 2001, at Heritage Care Center in Shelby after a long illness. He was born March 2, 1927 in Olive Hill, Kentucky to Eli and Yorkie Workman. He was an area resident since 1952 working at the Ohio State Reformatory as a guard and retiring as a Sergeant in 1989. Mr. Workman was a member of American Legion Post #26 and Robert P. Spreng AmVets Post #26. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by four sons and three daughters-in-law, Van and Phyllis Workman of Greenwich, Ernie and Linda Workman, and Acie Workman all of Mansfield, and Christopher and Holly Workman of Galion; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Rosemary and Keith Smith and Lori Anne Workman, all of Mansfield, and Brenda and Randy Barker of Greenwich; thirteen grandchildren, Tricia Burnhard, Michelle Dinsmore, Matthew Workman, Shawn Workman, Stacie Workman, Jamie Robinson, Frank Workman, Rick Hinton, Jeremy Barker, Jessica Barker, Josh Barker, Brittany Smith and Craig Smith; two sisters, Barbara Lucille Craig of Florida and Wiley Lowe of Kentucky; one niece, JoAnn Baker of Kentucky; and one sister-in-law, Hazel Garvin of Kentucky. His parents, Eli and Yorkie Workman, two brothers, Tom Garvin and Gene Workman and one sister, Ruby Stamper, preceded him in death.
Friends may call Wednesday, July 25 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Pastor Brian A. Phillips will conduct funeral services at the funeral home Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Military services will be observed at Mansfield Memorial Park following the service.
