Fred Henry Wolf passed away on January 2, 2024 after an extended illness. He was born on May 5, 1941 and was raised in Shreve, Ohio, as the youngest of seven children of Clarence and Lillian (Kerr) Wolf.
He graduated in 1961 from Shreve High School. Fred was a member of the United States Army National Guard, training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina before being stationed at Fort Ord, California. He spent his life working in construction and raising animals on his Lakeville farm. He served as a Holmes County Township Trustee for Washington Township for several terms. He was also on the board of the Lakeville Volunteer Fire Department.
Fred enjoyed spending summers at the train caboose he owned on Odell Lake, hunting mushrooms, collecting antique bottles, working on his farm and spending time with his friends. In retirement, he drove for local Amish families whom he enjoyed greatly and teased mercilessly. He most enjoyed the companionship of his beloved dog, Smoke.
Fred is survived by his daughters, April (Sidney) Danals of Loudonville and Holly (Grant) Roby of Worthington; brother, Thomas (Vivian) Wolf of Shreve; sisters Mary Wharton and Sally Wolf of Wooster, as well as grandchildren: Mason Myers, Lily Roby and Maya Roby.
He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Chester, Robert and Norma Fry.
The family will hold a private service to honor Fred’s life.
