Carol Sue Roberts, 82, of Mansfield, Ohio passed away on Friday, July 22, 2022 at OSU James Cancer Hospital. She was born in Mansfield on January 31, 1940 to the late Robert and Mary (Backensto) Leather.
Carol was a 1957 graduate of Madison High School and worked as an accounts payable supervisor for Artesian Industries. She was a member of Ontario United Methodist Church and made many banners for the church. Having a big heart and love for people, Carol enjoyed helping and serving others and was involved in other mission work with her church. She also began working with Habitat for Humanity, an organization that helps build or improve a place to call home. She stayed in Biloxi, Mississippi, working to help those in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and the second time in Charleston, South Carolina after Hurricane Hugo.
Carol enjoyed sewing, knitting and needle work. She enjoyed time spent with family and loved them dearly, cherishing the many wonderful memories they shared. She married the love of her life, Charles A. Roberts on May 18, 1984 before passing away on November 17, 2014.
She is survived by her partner, Ralph Beer; four step-children, Sharon (Brad) Courson, Karen Roberts, Douglas Roberts and Charles L. (Christina) Roberts; brother, Robert Leather; sister-in-law, Carol Leather; and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Carol was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Leather and sister-in-law, Judy Leather.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 29, 2022 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield, Ohio 44902. A service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, July 30, 2022 beginning at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Chris Bell officiating. She will be laid to rest in Windsor Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Ontario United Methodist Church or to Hospice of Central Ohio.
