Betty Jean Taylor Pence, 83, of Bellville passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, April 27, 2017. Born on December 20, 1933 in Monroe County, West Virginia, she was the daughter of Fred and Gladys Jean (Reed) Taylor.
Betty married her husband, Billy Joe Pence on July 5, 1949. Together they started Bill and Betty's Boutique, where Betty worked as a beautician. Her love of the Lord was shown through her being a very active member of Diamond Hills Baptist Church. Betty had a strong love for her family, including her dog, Cricket and enjoyed when everyone could get together. Watching baseball and fishing were a couple of hobbies she loved to do in her free time.
She is survived by her children, Betty Jo (Kenneth Sr.) Mounts of Bellville, David (Rita) Pence of Jeromesville, and Garry (Susan) Pence of Bellville; twelve grandchildren; twenty five great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; and a sister, Loretta Pound. In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Pence; a brother, Thurmon Taylor; six sisters, Aileen Rogers, Ruth Reynolds, Mildred Keister, Susie Wilson, Mary Ellen Bolton, and Annistein Pence; a grandson, Garry Pence Jr.; and a great grandchild, Wyatt Mounts.
The family will welcome friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St. A funeral service officiated by Rev. Christopher R. Thomas will be held on Monday, May 1, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with an additional hour of visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Diamond Hills Baptist Church, 647 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. She will be laid to rest in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions can be made to Diamond Hills Baptist Church or OhioHealth Hospice, 335 Glessner Avenue, Mansfield.
