Richard H. Forsyth was born on March 16, 1926, in Irvington, NJ, where he resided with his parents, eight sisters, and one brother until he entered the U.S. Army in 1943 at age 17 where he served with the Army Air Corps as an Air Traffic Controller. Upon his release from active duty, he worked a variety of jobs before being employed by Bell Telephone Company (Verizon) while simultaneously continuing to serve his country in the Army Reserves for a number of years. On August 31, 1957, Richard married Heddy, the woman of his dreams, and together they raised three daughters, all of whom he cherished and held very dear.
To his daughters, Richard was a hero, as well as their human encyclopedia. Richard enjoyed the great outdoors and taught his daughters to also love, respect, and cherish all of nature’s creations. Summer vacations were spent traveling in the family wagon with the kids and the family pets. Their loving home was always filled with dogs, cats, rabbits, music, and playful antics. Later in life, Richard experienced the joy of wholly participating in the formative years of his granddaughter, Jennifer Woodman-Tulk, and great-grandson, Reiley Woodman, attending all of the recitals, concerts, and sporting events he was able. Richard is survived by his daughters Bernice Kotza (Michael), Susan Swanson, Jenn Stengel (Michael), his granddaughter Jennifer Woodman-Tulk (Timothy), and great-grandson Reiley.
