John Henry Losey

John Henry Losey passed away on May 1, 2023 following a short, unexpected illness. John was born in Franklin, NJ. The son of a hard-working coal miner in Ogdensberg, NJ and brother to 8 siblings, John lived a long life filled with love for his family and his many daily activities.

John loved riding his bike. He could navigate highway traffic and backroads for miles and find his way back home before the sun went down. He had a sharp sense of direction and street smartness that allowed him to be independent and make countless friends along the way. John knew what a hard day’s work was and would willingly do yard clean-up or help with household chores without ever being asked.

John was proud he had muscular biceps and loved to demonstrate his arm strength.

He participated in The Special Olympics and brought home many well-earned trophies and awards. He loved wrestling, cowboy songs, Elvis Presley, old-fashioned radios and record players, and endless videos of Chuck Norris and Smokey and the Bandit!

His heart was full of love for his family. He cherished holding babies and playing with his nieces and nephews.

John is predeceased by his father Walter Losey and mother Sophia Petrolewicz Losey, brothers Eugene and Joey of Ogdensburg, New Jersey and most recently, Tony Losey of Orlando, Florida.

He is survived by his sister Sophia Finnegan of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, Russell Losey of Lafayette, New Jersey, Bill Kaufman and wife Susan of Branchville, New Jersey, Steve Losey and wife Sheila of Tucson, Arizona, Kathy Svendsen and husband Lloyd of Princeton, New Jersey, and Aunt Mary Puzio and husband Don of Succasunna, New Jersey, along with 13 nieces and nephews and 23 grand-nieces and nephews.

We are going to miss John’s happy smile, hardy laugh, strong hugs, and his sincere appreciation for a good meal.

We are confident that Johnny’s life leaves behind a strong trail of memories for those who loved him. He will be sorely missed. ♥️
