Edward John Leppert, age 88, of Manchester Township, New Jersey passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at home with his family by his side. Edward was born and lived in New Brunswick, for many years than North Brunswick before moving to Manchester in 1999. He attended Rutgers University and received his B.S. in Business, his Master's in Education and finally his Doctorate in Education. Ed was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, New Brunswick, Our Lady of Peace, North Brunswick and currently Saint Luke’s RC Church in Toms River. He worked as a teacher, coach, principal, and assistant superintendent for Highland Park and as superintendent of schools for Berkley, Wycoff and North Brunswick. Ed was very involved in his community and churches, serving on the Township Committee in North Brunswick, president of the Holy Name Society of Sacred Heart Church and president of the Middlesex County Federation Holy Name Society, chairman on the Board of Directors for New Brunswick Neighborhood House, President on the Board of Middlesex County Special Services and was voted Young Man of the Year for the North Brunswick Jaycees. He was also very active and enjoyed playing tennis, softball and golf. Ed will be greatly missed by all who were lucky enough to have met him.
Edward is predeceased by his parents Edward and Mary Leppert and his granddaughter Jessica Bongiovanni
Edward is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Frances Russo Leppert, his loving children; Kathleen Bongiovanni (Kevin), Diane Russell (David), Edward Leppert (Jeanene), Patricia Alexander (Louis) and Michael Leppert (Tracy), his cherished grandchildren; Katie Hooten (Nick), Kelsey Moroz (Jon), Ryan Russell (Lisa), Sean Russell (Stefanie), Randi Silfan (Keith), Craig Leppert, Nicole Leppert, Madison Leppert , EJ Leppert (Christin), Maggie Leppert, Patrick Alexander, and Lucas Alexander, and great grandchildren; Tessa, Sadie, Trevor, Connor, Hudson, Shea, Logan, Alexa, Graham, Landon, Charlie and Poppy, and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his two dear sisters, Mary Ann Stanko and Peg Anderson.
Family and friends are invited to the visitation on Sunday May 21, 2023, from 3-7 pm, at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 3010 Ridgeway Road, Manchester, NJ 08759. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday May 22, 2023, at 10:30 am, at Saint Luke's RC Church, 1674 Old Freehold Road, Toms River, NJ 08755.
