Douglas Paul Holzbaur, Sr., age 71, passed away at home on Saturday, July 6, 2024. Born in Trenton, NJ, Doug graduated in 1971 from Allentown High School. He lived in Florida most of his adult life, moving back to NJ upon retirement. He was an auto technician for a number of years before becoming a service writer. He worked for numerous dealerships in FL and NJ. Enrolled in the Chrysler Master Technician Program, Doug won many “Golden Tool” awards and attained Master Technician status.
A self-taught computer enthusiast, Doug had a vast amount of knowledge in hardware, operating systems, and programming. For many years he signed up to be a beta tester for Microsoft operating systems. He was the “go to” person whenever anyone had problems with their computer. In retirement, Doug enjoyed metal detecting at the beach, even though it didn’t make him rich. He also received a license from the FAA to fly his drone, which provided many hours of enjoyment. He spent untold hours studying the stock market, Bloomberg and CNBC were his favorite channels!
Doug was predeceased by his parents, Betty Jane (Jones) Holzbaur and William Lawrence Holzbaur, Sr. in 2010. He is survived by two sons, Ryan Paul Comer Holzbaur of Raleigh, NC and Douglas Paul Holzbaur, Jr. of Hanahan, SC. He leaves three siblings and their wives, Linda S. Holzbaur and Linda Kay of Manchester, NJ, Mark and Judi Holzbaur of Forked River, NJ and William, Jr. and Lisa Holzbaur of Bensalem, PA.
As he wished, his ashes will be released in the ocean at a later date.
