He was born in Manchester on September 2, 1919 to John and Vaia (Tsiolas) Folis. He resided in Manchester for all of his life and graduated in 1937 from Central High School. As a stand-out catcher for Post 79, Tully was part of “Murderers Row” and batted clean-up. He helped win several state championships and advanced to the semi-finals of the 1936 American Legion World Series. Tully loved the Red Sox.
During World War II he was a tank sergeant in Company A 774th Tank Destroyer Battalion. He served in the European theatre from 1941-1945. He was honorably discharged with 2 service stars.
Tully worked at the Post Office for over 30 years and part-time at Rockingham Park in Salem. He was a loving and caring husband, father and papou and he will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Josephine (Dashy) Folis, daughters Joanne Bonito and her husband Tom, Elizabeth Holbrook, Nancy Folis, and Susan Berry and her husband Bill, all of Manchester; 6 grandchildren, Gina and Greg Bonito, Scott and Matthew Holbrook, Andrew and Jenna Berry; a sister Irene Hagianis of Gloucester, MA and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his brother, Charlie Folis and sisters Antigone Remick and Sophie O’Keefe.
Services: A calling hour was at McHugh Funeral Home, 283 Hanover Street, corner of Beech St. on Friday, December 2, from 9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. A Funeral Service was held at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral at 11:00a.m. Burial followed in Pine Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 650 Hanover Street, Manchester, NH 03104.
