Maria Martel

She was born on September 5, 1927 in Springvale, ME. to Louis and Philomene (Ruel) Gervais. She married Lucien W. Martel on March 10, 1951 in Argentia, Newfoundland. They were married for 61 years until Lucien's passing in 2012.

Maria is survived by her children, Diane Nassar, of Manchester, NH, Adrien (Evelyn) Martel, of Cary, NC, Ernest (Cathy) Martel, of St. Augustine, FL, Pauline Leclerc, of Manchester, NH, Monique Martel, of Raleigh, NC, Irene (Glenn) Haley, of Andover, NH, Blanche (Rick) Hudon, of Creedmore, NC; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren. She also leaves numerous nieces, nephews and extended families.

Maria was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne Sodality at St. Anthony's church Manchester NH. Maria loved to do word and number searches daily, right up to the end. Maria will be remembered for the love of her family, and the memories she created with her loved ones. Her independence and strong will and her kindness extended to many including the seniors during her time in Florida.

She was predeceased by her parents, husband, 4 siblings, a great-granddaughter and many family members and friends who went before her.

A special thank you to the VNA Hospice medical support team for the outstanding care given to Maria during her time in Hospice.

There will be no calling hours. A celebration of life will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
