She was born in Manchester on July 21, 1941, the daughter of John and Bernice (Farley) Hunkins and lived in Manchester all of her life. Educated in local schools, she graduated from OLPH Elementary School and Central High School. She married Arthur R. Crane on Sept. 22, 1975 and shared over 22 years of marriage until his death in January 1998.
She has worked at the YWCA as an aerobics instructor for about 10 years. Following her work at the YWCA she worked as a retail specialist for Macy’s, Filene’s and JC Penney. Up until this year she was an employee of Hannaford’s Supermarket on Hanover St.
Jackie was extremely passionate about Nutrition and Physical Fitness. Not only was she an avid runner and member of the Executive Fitness Club, she also used her passion for Health by teaching and leading aerobics classes for elderly cardiac patients. In her spare time she helped her church community at the former Our Lady of Perpetual Help parish, where she taught CCD and planned summer BBQ’s. Jackie was known for her beautiful yard where she kept the most beautiful flower garden ever.
She is survived by her daughter Tracey Cane and her partner Liz McMillen who have cared for her for the past 7 months in her home in Manchester; her siblings, Dorothy Healy of Manchester, Phyllis Thayer of Wichita Falls TX, William Hunkins of Manchester, Mary Cloutier of Hooksett, Eileen Hunkins of Virginia and Shiela Fournier of Goffstown; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was pre-deceased by two sisters, Judy Belanger and Claire Casey and a nephew Kevin Casey.
Calling hours were on Sunday from 3 to 7 PM in the McHugh Funeral Home, 283 Hanover St., corner of Beech St. A funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday at 11 AM in St. Pius X Church, 575 Candia Rd. Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Concord Regional Visiting Nurse Association, 30 Pillsbury St., Concord NH 03301. Her family extends their gratitude for the care given by the Concord Regional Visiting Nurse Association Hospice program.
