Bob was born on December 8, 1942 in New York, NY to parents Peggy and Joseph. At Riverdale Country School, he was decorated athlete in basketball, baseball, and football. He attended Hobart College where he played collegiate basketball, and graduated from City University of New York. From there, Bob earned his Masters Degree from Baruch College.
His distinguished career in communications marketing included more than 40 years at Western Electric and AT&T, followed by Nortel Networks, but his passion was his sports photography. He spent decades shooting youth and professional tennis, and captured countless iconic players and moments in tennis history. His photos appeared in the New York Times, Tennis Magazine, and on display at the U.S. Open’s Arthur Ashe Stadium. Bob was recognized for his contributions to the sport with induction into the USTA Eastern Tennis Hall of Fame.
Bob was an extraordinary family man, first and foremost. His relentless commitment to his family and friends knew no bounds. Seeing his family happy, healthy, and setting them up for success was his first priority always.
Bob is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara, children Jennifer, Jamie, David, their spouses Paul and Renee, grandchildren Brandy, Kendall, Charlie, Leo, Sophie, Stephen and Phoebe, Sister Emily and brother-in-law Pat Collins.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday 1pm at the Mount Sinai Cemetery, Internal Chapel, Building 1, 374 Hwy 79, Morganville, NJ 07751. The family will be sitting Shiva at the Kenas residence, Tuesday following service until 7pm and Wednesday 3-8pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family has expressed their wish that gestures of sympathy be made by charitable donations to "Johns Hopkins University", c/o Fund for Johns Hopkins Medicine, 750 E. Pratt Street, 17th Floor, Baltimore, MD, 21202 with a note indicating donation be allocated to IBM Research.
