Jerry was a CPA and worked as a financial controller before his employment with the NJ Division of Labor, Department of Unemployment in management where he helped people find professional careers. He previously held positions with Coopers Lybrand, American Airlines, Martin Marietta, Hess Oil, and Sharp Electronics.
Mr. Kaplan served proudly in the US Army in the division of Counter Intelligence during the Korean War, from 1951 through 1953.
He was an active member of Congregation B'Nai Israel. He was a member of the Society of AICPA.

Jerry was predeceased by his wife Dorothy, and his brother Ted Chapman.
Surviving is his younger sister, Hannah Kaplan-Solomon, his daughter Karen Terry and her husband Steven Wertheim, his sons Maurice Kaplan and Robert Kaplan and his wife Hope, 5 grandchildren Melissa Terry and her wife Jackie Subar, Daniel Terry and his wife Erin, Allison and her husband, Adam Cohen, Ira Kaplan and Stephanie Kaplan and his great granddaughter Violet Terry.
Funeral services will be held 11am at Bloomfield Cooper Jewish Chapels, 44 Wilson Ave, Manalapan, NJ, the burial will follow at Floral Park Cemetery, Monmouth Junction, NJ.
Shiva will be held at Karen Terry's and Steven Wertheim's home, 24 Manor Dr, Marlboro, NJ, after services on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Sunday 10am -6pm & 7pm on, Minyan will be held at 8pm, Saturday after Shabbat, Monday 10am to 11am
