Born and raised in Canarsie, Brooklyn, he resided in Kew Gardens, Queens and Freehold Borough before settling in Monroe Township 10 years ago.
Prior to retiring, Jeffrey was a Physical Education teacher and Athletic Director for the New York City Board of Education, where he worked for 33 years. Throughout his career and into retirement, Jeffrey coached and refereed high school athletics along with teaching driver’s education.
In his free time, Jeffrey enjoyed playing pickleball, hiking, golfing and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a proud alumnus of Long Island University where he received his undergraduate degree and West Virginia University where he received his Master’s degree.
Surviving is his loving wife of 47 years, Robin; 3 sons: Ross Povell and his wife Benéy, Marc Povell and his wife Rachel, and Todd Povell and his wife Abigail; and 7 grandchildren: Madison, Briana, Jared, Evan, Jordan, Mackenzie, and Grayson.
A service will be held on Monday, August 10, 2020 at 11AM at the Sanctuary of Abraham and Sarah in Cedar Park Cemetery, Paramus. Entombment will immediately follow.
