Herman was affectionately known as “Ally” by his boyhood friends and Pinochle buddies, many of whom he knew for over 75 years. After graduating high school, Herman served in the US Navy and then graduated from City College of New York with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He married his wife Suzanne Goldman in January of 1954. They settled in Tenafly, New Jersey in 1965 where they raised three children and lived happily for more than 30 years. Herman spent his career as a Systems Engineer, mostly with Loral Electronic Systems in Yonkers, New York. Although he grew up in the Bronx and spent most of his adult life in New Jersey, Herman and his Suzanne loved travel, spending two years in London from 1984-1986, and taking vacations to Europe, Asia and Australia. They enjoyed a decade of winters in Hawaii where he and Suzanne spent much time after retirement. He also enjoyed spending time with his eight grandchildren, and more recently with his first great-grandchild.
Herman is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Suzanne Goldman of Monroe Township, his brother Norman Goldman and wife Carole of Monroe Township, brother Ben Goldman and wife Lynda of Paolos Verdes California, son Larry Goldman and wife Jennifer of Rye, New York, son Gerald Goldman and wife Judy of Warrenton, Virgina, and daughter Jill Sanclimenti and husband Robert of Doylestown, Pennsylvania. He’s also survived by eight grandchildren: Blair Goldman Kopelcheck and husband William, Madeleine Goldman and fiancé Connor Finnegan, Charlotte Goldman, Miles Goldman, Kevin Goldman and fiancé Sara Cooper, Dara Goldman, Jake Goldman, Gaby Sanclimenti, and great-grandchild Beatrice Kopelcheck.
