Centurion, Robert Partington, passed away on July 17th at his home in Manahawkin, NJ, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Virginia Partington; his three children, Richard Partington, Kimberly Partington and Lois Raimo; his son in law, Thomas Raimo; and two grandchildren, Brittany and Timothy Raimo. Affectionately referred to as Poppy, he had a passion for education, exploration and the arts. Born in Yonkers, NY, Robert would fondly reminisce about his first job as a milk boy following alongside his father at Alderney Dairy Company. As a young man, he was a member of The Grace Episcopal Church Choir and became Superintendent of the Sunday School for St. Michaels Church. Robert served five years in the US Navy. With aspirations to start a family, he met his true love, Ginny. They lived in Wayne, NJ for 30 years, raising their 3 children, and enjoyed summering at their home in Ship Bottom, NJ. Robert pursued a bachelor’s degree from Seton Hall University and 2 master’s degrees from Farleigh Dickenson University. He took pride in his successful career as an Industrial Engineer for ITT and then went on to travel the world as a senior auditor for Unisys Corporation. Post retirement, Robert moved to Seneca, South Carolina, where he enjoyed perfecting the game of golf, took up an interest in economics and competing with his local bowling league. At this time, he traveled extensively for pleasure, exploring 75% of the world. Robert moved back to Manahawkin, NJ in 2003 to end out his life being closer to his family. He enjoyed his involvement in the Atlantic Estates Association and took pride in volunteering at the local Ken’s Kitchen, where he was fondly referred to as “Cackling Bob”. We will deeply miss Robert’s boisterous laugh and endless storytelling. A private ceremony will be held by Robert’s family.
