January 24, 1964 – September 15, 2024
Raymond C. Gravatt, known for his humor and generosity, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2024 surrounded by his family.
Ray was the life of every party who made sure everyone was having a good time, had food in their bellies, and maybe danced on a table or two. His ability to turn even the most mundane moments into the best memories made him a force to be reckoned with in the lives of his friends and family.
Ray lived his life alongside his best friend Cheryl who he loved fiercely. Though Ray Ray may have driven her crazy from time to time, they knew they were it for each other. He often said she was the best thing that has ever happened to him and was thankful to have her by his side through life’s ups and downs. Their friendship and marriage is one for the books.
As a loving father and the best Pop to his grandkids, Ray’s love was felt deeply and often. His legacy lives on through his family. Ashley is outspoken just like her dad. She loves that she learned to speak her mind and to never back down. Kait has taken on the family role of the funniest (her words- no one voted) and is thankful she was able to share jokes with her dad often. Kyle had Ray’s kind heart and strong will. We are thankful they are up in heaven together and catching up on the time that has passed.
Ray was known for his selflessness and generosity. He constantly put others before himself, offering support and kindness wherever it was needed. His spirit of giving will be remembered and deeply missed.
Ray is survived by his wife Cheryl, two daughters Ashley and Kaitlyn, his son-in-law Jashua, his daughter-in-law Casey, three grandsons Cameron, Hudson, and Rowan, his granddaughter Jayden, as well as his younger brother Brett and his sister-in-law Kelli, andi In-laws Robert and Virginia. He is predeceased by his only son Kyle and his parents Raymond Sr. and Nadine.
A celebration of Ray’s life will be held next month with a date to come, where friends and family will gather to honor and remember a truly exceptional man.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Amyloidosis Research Consortium in his memory. Please visit the following link to read his story and to donate to this cause. https://donate.arci.org/InMemoryofRayRay
There will be less laughter in the world now, and maybe less prank phone calls, but his memories will live on through the people that loved him.
