Jim, formerly of Fair Lawn, NJ, had lived in the Beach Haven West community of Manahawkin, NJ for the past 28 years.
He worked as a Lead Aircraft Maintenance Technician for United Airlines and Continental Airlines at Newark Liberty International Airport for the past 33 years.
Jim is survived by his two sisters Margaret “Peggy” Jennings (Kelly) and her husband, Daniel of Oak Ridge, NJ and Patricia Kelly of Hamburg, NJ, his two nieces, Megan O’Connor of West Milford, NJ and Maureen Salzer (O’Connor) and her husband Tim Salzer of Clifton, NJ. He is predeceased by his parents, Patrick and Margaret Kelly, and his brother Gerard Kelly, all of Fair Lawn, NJ.
Known to many as “Uncle Jimmy,” he opened his home to all and loved taking trips on his boat to one his favorite places, Barnegat Light to see “Old Barney”. He was the most reliable and caring son, brother, uncle, neighbor and friend. His family, friends and neighbors are certain there was nothing he couldn’t fix. When he wasn’t working on airplanes, he spent his time working on cars, his boat, his house and anything his family and friends needed. He was an avid fan of the New York Giants, loved Long Beach Island, traveling and spending time with his family and friends.
Due to the current pandemic, a memorial service will be planned by his family at a later date.
