James Robert Corbett Jr. of Manahawkin NJ, formally of Morristown NJ and Branchville NJ, passed away unexpectedly on August 23rd, 2024. He was 72. Born on December 14th, 1951 and known as Jim, was the first of 11 children. He was a graduate of Morristown High School and a proud member of the pipefitter’s unions local 274 for over 50 years. Jim was a man who could build and fix many things, and always willing to lend a hand. He was extremely organized, loved animals, travel, and camping with his RV. He was an avid bowler and Yankees fan. Most importantly, his family will remember him for his fierce independence and work ethic, his love for everyone close to him, and his ability to persevere thru adversity.
Jim was predeceased by his parents James R. Corbett, Sr and Elizabeth A. Corbett, siblings Paul M. Corbett, Judith Corbett, and Timothy P. Corbett, and a widower of Kathleen A. Corbett. Jim is survived by his wife, Linda C. Corbett, his children James R. Corbett III (Florence) of Wantage NJ, Raymond A Corbett of Wantage, Brian M Corbett (Jill) of Stillwater NJ, Ronald J. Ponzio Jr (Krystina) of Barnegat NJ, Gina Ponzio (Lee) of Union Beach NJ, Adam P. Klimas (Jen) of Manahawkin, and Noah K. Klimas (Heather) of Branchville; his siblings Thomas J. Corbett of Morristown, Ann E. Bedkowski of Morristown, David J. Corbett of Morristown, Lynn R. Schumm (Bill) of Bloomsbury NJ, Irene M. Schmidt (Tim) of Mine Hill NJ, Peter G Corbett (Andrea) of West Hartford CT, Elizabeth S. Erb (Bob) of Mine Hill; his grandchildren Addison E. Corbett, James R. Corbett IV, Sophia L. Ponzio, Gianna N. Ponzio, Collin J. Dickerson, Elizabeth Klimas, Hailey Klimas, Wyatt Klimas, Leah Klimas, and many nieces and nephews.
A viewing and celebration of life for family and friends will be held at the Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Dr., Manahawkin, NJ on Friday, August 30th 2024 from 1 to 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to your local animal shelter or rescue organization.
