Frankie loved life and lived it to its fullest. He was a 2022 graduate of Southern Regional High School in Manahawkin. Frankie began performing in theater productions when he was 6 years old. He was a member of the Our Gang and Bellarine community theater companies. As he worked on his craft, Frankie took classes in tap, jazz, ballet, and voice at Starlight Performing Arts Center. While in high school, Frankie was involved in the theater program, performing in both plays and musicals. He sang in jazz ensemble, choir, and select choir. Frankie was on the track team and competed as a sprinter, a sport in which he lettered.
He attended the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth/College of Engineering, majoring in Biomedical Engineering. Soon after arriving at UMass Dartmouth, Frankie immersed himself in campus life. He worked in the Claire T. Carney Library; served as chair of professional development for the Student Alumni Association; joined the lacrosse club team; performed in the UMass Dartmouth Theatre Company’s production of the musical, The Addams Family; and volunteered in the College of Engineering’s tutoring program.
Frankie embraced unconditional acceptance. He supported friends and family as they learned from him how to love and be unapologetically themselves. Frankie’s beautiful soul, infectious smile, kind heart, and passionate commitment to all he loved will leave a lifelong, lasting impact on all who had the privilege to know him.
He is survived by his loving family, his parents Frank Sr. and Darlene (Gross) Petillo; his sisters Nicole Petillo, Lauren Petillo, Rebecca Morgan (Peter), and Erika Caltagirone (Justin); his nieces and nephews Gwenlyn, Tristan, and Dylan Morgan; Krysta and Sienna Caltagirone; his grandparents; Pat and Nancy Petillo and Donald Gross; his aunts and uncles Robert Petillo (Kathy), Patricia Sutton (Rich), Johnny Petillo (Laura Bolos), Suzanne Martin, Dawn Gross (Jane Style), Denise Greco, Debbie (George) George, and Dianna Gross (Beth Petersen) as well as his cherished cousins and amazing friends.
