Manahawkin, NJ - 90 years young. Mrs. Dolores "Laurie" Mary Tormey Smith entered eternal rest on February 28, 2017. Born and raised on Staten Island, NY, until she moved to Edison, NJ. Dolores is predeceased in death by her husband Philip Lawrence Smith, her brothers Thomas, Edward, Bertram, and Raymond Tormey, her sisters Frances Gibbons and Veronica Crowley and her daughter Sheila Kathleen Smith. Dolores is survived by her brother Richard Tormey of Spring Hill, FL, children Patricia (Francis J.) Demary, Philip Smith, Colleen (Mark) Leifer, and Brendan (Jacqueline) Smith, her eight grandchildren; Brian, Bridget, Lynette, Sheila, Erin, Shannon, Deirdre, Kimberly and her 14 great grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews. Dolores was a dedicated executive at Bamberger’s/Macy's for 40 years, a member of St. Mary's Parish in Manahawkin and was a sports enthusiasts, but loved The Baltimore Orioles and The Notre Dame Fighting Irish most. She loved dogs and enjoyed her many fur babies and grand fur babies. No matter what the activity or sport her family was involved in, Dolores was always their #1 cheerleader and supporter.
Visitation will be held at the Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Dr., Manahawkin, NJ on Sunday, March 5, 2017 from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 6:00pm-8:00pm. There will also be a visitation on Monday, March 6, 2017 from 9:00am-11:00am. A Mass will follow at 11:30am on Monday at St. Mary’s in Barnegat. Following the Mass, burial will be at Brig. General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Road, Wrightstown, NJ.
