Always a smile on his face, David touched the lives of all who knew him. He wrote his own rules and paved his own way. He made all those around him feel as if they were the most important person in the world, and he had a story for every occasion.
He lived life his way, beginning with his childhood in Pennsauken, NJ. His adventures and endeavors included PJ Whelihan’s in Allentown, TB’s Pub in Jim Thorpe, and too many more to enumerate. He spent the last decade in St. Thomas, enjoying the island lifestyle and floating in the ocean. He danced to the beat of his own drum, and did he ever love to dance.
David was born in Philadelphia, PA to Alfred and Kathleen Platzer (nee Whelihan). He is survived by three children and their spouses, David and Michelle Platzer, Heather Platzer and Heather Koehl, and Alyson Platzer and Daniel Payn, as well as a grandchild, Nina Rose and another one on the way in July. David also is survived by his longtime companion, Donna Yenca, and siblings including Jacqueline and Fred Webb, Patricia and David Swan, Robert and Donna Platzer, the late Stephen Platzer, Judy Platzer, and Mark and Kathy Platzer. He has dozens of nieces and nephews.
David was a great man, brother, son, father, and pop pop. He was a friend to all. He knew love, and everyone graced with meeting him felt his love. We hope to celebrate his life with family and friends at a future date.
