My dad Bill and my brother  Sam and I spent many days and nights fishing with Charlie, Ronnie, and their dad. What great times we had. So sorry that Charlie left so soon. 🙏🙏🙏.           Bob Haines

So sorry for your loss. Charlie was a great friend to my husband Todd he worked and fished on his boat numerous times. Todd so enjoyed fishing with him.  He was heartbroken he did not hear of his passing till yesterday when he talked to another captain.  So sorry we weren’t there to pay our respects.  May Charlie Rest In Peace and forever sail on the seas.  I have attached a photo my husband took on the last fishing trip him and Charlie did together . 

ROBIN  , I am so sorry to here about Charlies passing . he was such a great guy . My brother Sam and I used to fish with Charlie and Ronnie a lot back in the day on those night bluefish trips . They are some great memories .  So sorry that I missed the service , I just found out about his passing last night          You are in our prayers

Robin, my heart and prayers are with you. I just can't believe that he's gone as I'm sure you feel that way too. I will always remember how our last time together. Y'all invited me and my children to dinner when I came home for my 40th. Charlie and you were so much fun always. I also will remember the little picnics that we had for April, Tricia, Choo choo and Keith in my Nanny's back yard. Love & Hugs, Esther

For all those who called me directly with their condolences, for those who sent flowers, food, cards, and the many  that were able to attend  at Shinn's furneral home my family and I thank you and will remember the kindness forever.  

His love and devotion to his children, grandson and myself, will live in our hearts forever.  He was a generous man to all of us. He never denied us anything that we wanted but didn't need. 

 I will never feel whole again as my better half has passed. I loved him since I was 16 years old. We were partners, companions, lovers, and friends all in one package. I will miss  taking care of Charlie and saying I love you, and the reply from him, "love ya too!"
I will miss his singing and changing the lyrics while driving on  the interstate  going to Florida.

My Charlie passed to soon. I will think of the great times we had together. I'am so fortunate  to have this within me, as no other could have given me the wonderful memories like he did, no other.

My deepest condolences to Robin and the family. Charlie was so kind 
to me after my father passed. My father wanted to be buried at sea
and Charlie helped me accommodate Dad’s final wishes aboard 
the Robin Ann. Dad loved fishing with Charlie, so it was only fitting that he should be the Capt. Charlie also gave my son Drew his first job. Drew learned so much from Charlie. I will miss that Toyota pulling up to the house promptly at 4 am. Rest In Peace Charlie.

I met Charlie later in his life,  to me growing up Charlie was a legend. He was larger then life,  and in ways intimidating. The Charlie I got to know was a great man,  he was a gentle soul.  A wonderful uncle to my niece. When it  came it fishing....I'd like to see better because I don't think they existed.  Charlie loved what he did,  and the man could tell a fishing story with the best of em. He always made me feel special,  especially in the keys when he was upset that I had to leave and couldnt fish.  Holidays won't be the same with out you

So sorry to hear Charlie passed. So any good memories. Loved that he would tell me "Jackie, you dont want to make this fishing trip" when he saw the seas would be rough and I would get sea sick. What he did for my family when my brother passed away was so generous and caring. We were able to spread his ashes in the ocean in front of 28th street.  


I'm very sorry to hear of Charles passing Some of my greatest memories of my father and friends was during the countless trips to the edge in search of tuna.  Nobody did it better- and it was such a first rate operation built by a family of caring people.  My condolences to Robin and all of the family.  We lost a great man.

One of the kindest, most down to earth people's person around. Regardless of whether he was your Captain or just a person aboard fishing next to you he treated everyone with respect and dignity

I am gonna miss you Captain Charlie. You and Robin were always so good to me.

I was fortunate enough to fish with friends on Charlie’s boat.   He always did his best to make sure we came home with our limit of fish and limit of fun. We enjoyed many laughs and fishing stories that made our trips so memorable. He will be missed by many. Sincere condolences to his family. 

Charlie I miss you already. No one can tell a story like you. Fond memories of your oatmeal cookies! A gentle hard working soul.

Offering prayers of condolence and comfort for Robin and family. I'll best remember Charlie as we were preteens on the Doris Mae 4 blue fishing at night. He could always make me laugh and just about everybody around him. We would clean Blue Fish five for a dollar head gut and tail.  We would fish all night in between helping the customers and taking care of the galley. When we got back to the dock we would clean everybody's fish and then we would sell what we had. Fairwinds and following Seas my friend I'll miss you.

I only knew Charlie for a few years from fishing on his boat.  I always enjoyed taking a break and sitting and talking with him.  What a wonderful guy!  And the fish will now propagate in large numbers as he knew all the best spots.  He will be sorely missed in the fishing community as well as his family and friends.

I will always remember Charlie as a hard-working upbeat guy who knew how to enjoy life.  A Barnegat Light ICON who will surely be missed by all.  Best to you Robin and Ron.  God Bless
